Victorian Mains Replacement & District Mains Replacement

Scope of Work

  1. Replace the existing mains and all the services of 4 DMAs
    within the Chatham area
  2. 90% non-dig techniques used: directional drilling and slip line
  3. Delivered 4 months ahead of the Morrison Utility Services
    programme
  4. Extension to scope of works completed within original timescale

Victorian Mains Replacement & District Mains Replacement

Scope of Work

  1. Main & service laying works
  2. Mains up to 250mm diameter were laid in built up roads including
    the busy A200
  3. 700mm deep of tarmac & reinforced concrete, & old tram lines
    present
  4. This scheme was completed ahead of the Olympic embargo
    Deadline

Challenges

  1. Bermondsey Wall East contained remains of ‘King Edward III
    Manor House’, which is of archaeological interest
  2. Maintaining traffic flow throughout the project.
  3. Restricted working Infrastructure – Network & Modelling

Actions Solutions

  1. Archaeologist present on site during digging activities. Route drilled where possible and the main diverted.
  2. Co-ordinated Traffic management in conjunction with Programme & Liaison with Local Authorities
  3. Weekly meeting with client & Programming
  4. Trial Shuts undertaken prior to any connections
